Braeden Martin is a second-year master’s student from Dorsey, Mississippi. Braeden is a graduate teaching assistant for the department who has previously assisted with HI-1163, World History Before 1500, and HI-1063, Early U.S. History. Currently, Braeden is helping run the History Resource Center on campus, intending to provide support for organizing and writing essays and analyzing primary sources using problem sets. His primary field of study is nineteenth-century American history, focusing on the American Civil War and Reconstruction. His interests and research concentrate on identity, politics, and violence surrounding Reconstruction Governments and Religious Institutions in the South.

Braeden interned with the Civil War and Reconstruction Governors of Mississippi Project this past summer, working with metadata. Civil War & Reconstruction Governors of Mississippi (CWRGM) is a digital documentary project that engages scholars, teachers, students, and the public by providing access to a plethora of documents from the Governors of Mississippi.
